Hi, I’m Kathya, a student at Commonwealth School in Boston. I’ve grown up loving this city, and I’m pretty committed to taking advantage of everything it has to offer. That’s meant everything from working on applied math and stochastic ML research in a graduate-level class at BU to interning under the CFO at Whitehead Institute, where I got a pretty firsthand look at what it means to manage a multimillion dollar portfolio.

But honestly, a lot of my favorite parts of Boston have nothing to do with work. When I’m not at school, you’ll probably find me wandering around the city with friends, bouncing between libraries, museums, and an unreasonable number of boba shops.

At Commonwealth, I’m varsity soccer captain and head of our AAPI affinity group, which have both taught me how to build a community. I bring that same curiosity to my podcast, Financially Fluent Fridays, where I get to look at culture through the lens of finance and economics and talk to people who know a lot more than I do, including Survivor’s Boston Rob and McLaren CEO Zak Brown.   And my newest hobby is directing skits! My FAVORITE one is a skit I directed with my fellow soccer captains, where Gru was feeling insecure and Lucy (me with a very bad orange wig) and Vector had to convince him that he didn’t know what made him beautiful. It was ridiculous, very chaotic, and genuinely one of my favorite things I’ve made.
